Liver Disease

This can come in different forms and we support all diseases of the liver. An all too common issue with an organ that is prepped to metabolise everything that enters and passes through the body. Liver disease tends to come couple with other diseases which is where personalised pans can be transformative.

Liver Disease can present in different forms from acute and chronic hepatitis, copper toxicity, to porto systemic liver shunts. Each has a different aetiology, diet and supplementation approach but with many shared similarities.

We look at the entire health of the pet, look at low fat recipes to suit each individual, and possible low phosphate or low copper recipes to take some of the burden off the liver, dependent on the diagnosis. Whilst doing so, we offer hepatic support through carefully considered supplementation and lifestyle choices, removing processed foods and as many toxins as possible.

Like any disease, the support and outcome achieved is always based on how far progressed the disease is.

This recipe is still within FEDIAF guidelines but on the low side of limits. Dependent on the individual case, the amounts may need to be lower. On this basis we suggest keeping this as a shorter term elimination diet and to check copper levels on a frequent basis with your vet.
